In 1985 the UNIC succeeded the Ener 1000. It was produced by RIMA, a large company in Porto. I already used hard drives, I had much more central memory, and directly managed the screen and keyboard. It used a 16-bit processor, the 8088, in addition to the Z80. Around 300 units were sold, essentially in multi-station configurations, using the C-DOS operating system.
It was also used for industrial control, e.g. to control of ceramic kilns. UNIC was a success for RIMA, which ceased to be a company that only sold imported equipment to gain design capacity, which opened new markets for it.
